Please ensure your child is reading each day. In the 'Files' section of this page, you will find book suggestions aimed at Year Three and Four pupils. If you click here you will find examples of questions you can ask your child when they are reading at home. These are specifically designed to enhance a variety of their skills including: vocabulary, inference, prediction, explanation, retrieval and summarising. Examples include:

• Find one word in the text which means......

• How do these words make the reader feel?

• What is happening now? What happened before this? What will happen after?

• Which section was the most interesting/exciting part?

• How would you describe this story/text? What genre is it? How do you know?

• Can you summarise in a sentence the opening/middle/end of the story?
