English - Spring 2
Pathways to Write
hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhy |
This half term, English lessons will focus on the thoroughly researched 'Island' by Jason Chin. This extraordinary book, which is filled with intricate and beautiful paintings, explores the epic story of the life of an island - born of fire, rising to greatness, its decline, and finally the emergence of life on new islands. This text links brilliantly with our science work on evolution and inheritance. We will focus on reinforcing some of the grammar objectives already covered in Year 5 whilst also introducing some new objectives in preparation for high school. Our Mastery Keys this term:
Our text-based approach to writing will help us to build our writing stamina as we work towards writing a journalistic report (hybrid) about Charles Darwin’s discoveries. |
